The job

Greenhouse worker, all other divisions: Work in planting, greenhouse, bunching, and packing divisions. DOES NOT WORK IN THE LOGISTICS DIVISION. Job duties include stacking and unstacking crates, planting tulip bulbs, picking flowers by hand, cleaning, bunching or sleeving flowers, and folding boxes. May stack, unstack, lift, move and arrange empty, heavy-duty pallets by hand without use of a pallet jack or forklift. May perform minor repairs and maintenance on greenhouse, equipment and irrigation. Prolonged walking, standing, bending, stooping, and reaching. Workers may be requested to submit to random drug or alcohol tests at no cost to the worker. Failure to comply with the request or testing positive may result in immediate termination. All testing will occur post-hire and is not a part of the interview process. Negative result may be required post-hire and before commencing work. Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. Must not hinder another workers productivity. Use of personal cell phone or other personal electronic device during working hours strictly prohibited except for work-related calls or emergencies and violation may result in immediate termination. Must commit to work for the entire contract period.

Planting Division: Workers will move, carry and lift crates by hand. Plant tulip bulbs at a mechanical planting line. Workers may wash crates using crate washing machine. Must keep work area neat and clean at all times.

Greenhouse Division: Workers will perform forcing activity which involves unstacking crates of flowers and arranging crates of flowers on the greenhouse container system. May pick flowers by hand. May clean greenhouse using broom-shovel hand tool. Workers may wash crates using crate washing machine. Workers will stack and unstack crates.

Bunching Division: Workers will make bouquets of flowers by hand. Workers will sleeve tulips. Workers may harvest/cut field peonies by hand with a small knife. Place flowers on conveyor belt. Must keep work area neat and clean at all times.

Packing Division: Workers will fold boxes in which flowers are shipped. Workers will sleeve flower bunches. Stack boxes of bunched flowers on pallet by hand and label for shipment.

Excessive absences and/or tardiness cannot be tolerated and may result in termination.

Daily individual work assignments, crew assignments, and location of work will be made by and at the sole discretion of the employer and/or worker?s supervisor. Workers may be assigned a variety of duties in any given day and/or different tasks on different days. Workers will be expected to perform any of the listed duties and work on any crop as assigned by the employer and/or worker?s supervisor.

Housing: Rental or public accommodations

Meals: Employer will furnish free and convenient cooking and kitchen facilities so workers may prepare their own meals. Workers will buy their own groceries. Once a week, the employer will provide (on a voluntary basis) transportation to assure workers access to stores where they can purchase groceries. These board arrangements apply only to workers living in employer-provided housing. Mode of transportation to be arranged by the employer is unknown.
