The job
Use hand tools including, but not limited to shovels, hoes and knives, shears, clippers, loppers and hand saws. Spread plastic or other ground covering. Clean plastic by hand from ground upon removal. Till soil. Weed and thin plants. Stake, tie, position plants by tying or wrapping as necessary, trellis/prune plants, and set poles and wires for blackberry plants. Equipment may be movers, sprayers, power shears. Move, Install and maintain irrigation systems, water lines, pipes and equipment. Water or irrigate plants and apply fertilizer, pesticides, herbicides, fungicides, plant protectants, plant growth chemicals, conditioners, and other plant related treatments at the correct times depending on plant growth conditions and climate. Mow, cut, and weed fields. Perform ditching and ditch maintenance, shoveling, hoeing, hauling, ground preparation, and other manual tasks. Bending, stooping and keeling required. Assist with farm building/field maintenance and repairs. Repair fences. Wear assigned personal protective equipment when required. Must report for work daily wearing work clothing and boots or safe durable footwear. Workers wearing inappropriate clothing for work will not be permitted to start work. Outdoor work is required when plants are wet, or during light rain, snow, moderate winds, direct sun, high humidity and extreme temperatures. Temperatures in fields during working hours may vary. Workers may be required to work during occasional showers not severe enough to stop field operations. Allergies to ragweed, goldenrod, honeybees, insecticides, herbicides, fungicides or related chemicals may affect a worker's ability to perform the job. Work is done outdoors for long periods of time and requires prolonged periods of standing and or walking , repetitive movements, and frequent bending and/or stooping. Workers must be able to handle, lift, and carry 52 pounds or bulky objects (product, containers) in accordance with the specified lifting requirements. The temperatures throughout this field maintenance season tend to be cooler, so workers will need to wear appropriate clothing based on the weather. These types of clothing may include sweatshirts, jackets, gloves, hats, etc. All tools will be provided to workers at no cost. Workers must be able to work throughout the whole season. Lift, Cary and load/unload supplies. Workers must operate all equipment properly and in a manner that protects operators, others , the employer's plants and property. Failure to comply with safety requirements and operating instructions may result in disciplinary action up to and including immediate termination. Supervisor (s) will provide instructions and directions to workers. Workers must be able to comprehend and follow instructions and communicate effectively to supervisors.
Housing: Employer-provided (including mobile or range)
Meals: Employer will provide free of cost to the workers, convenient and fully equipped kitchens with refrigerator, stove, pots, pans, utensils, and counter space, cooking and kitchen facilities to workers living in employer provided housing, which will enable workers to prepare their own meals. Also will provide, free of cost to the workers, transportation once a week to go to the grocery store to buy food and other necessities.
Transport: Transportation to the place of employment from the place which the worker has to come to work (inbound) and from the place of employment back to the place from which the worker departed (outbound) and related daily sustenance expenses to be reimbursed to the worker for reasonable cost incurred. Workers select means of transportation, employer reimburse workers at no less than the most economical and reasonable common carrier transportation charges for the distances.
