The job

Perform agricultural work associated with the preparation, planting, cultivation, maintenance, and production of hemp and other farm crops. Prepare growing areas for the upcoming crop cycle by clearing weeds and unwanted vegetation; tilling, cultivating, amending, fertilizing, and preparing soil; planting and maintaining cover crops; and preparing beds and cultivation areas. Propagate hemp plants from seed and clones under cover during fall and winter for spring transplanting. Plant and transplant crops; irrigate, fertilize, weed, prune, and maintain plants throughout the growing season. Monitor crops, trees, and vegetation for insects, disease, fungus, and other plant-health problems and apply commercially available fertilizers, herbicides, pesticides, and fungicides according to label directions and employer instructions. Construct, repair, and maintain agricultural fencing and deer-exclusion systems necessary to protect crops and growing areas. Mow, bush-hog, weed-eat, clear invasive vegetation, remove agricultural debris, and maintain farm acreage as necessary for crop production and farm operations. Operate and perform routine maintenance on agricultural equipment including tractors, bush hogs, zero-turn mowers, skid steers, UTVs, backpack sprayers, backpack blowers, and other hand and power tools. Assist with irrigation systems and other agricultural infrastructure. Perform general agricultural duties associated with preparation and maintenance of the farm and the production of crops. Work outdoors in varying weather conditions and perform physically demanding agricultural labor, including prolonged standing, walking, bending, stooping, lifting, carrying, and repetitive tasks.

Housing: Employer-provided (including mobile or range)

Meals: Employer will furnish the worker free and convenient access to cooking and kitchen facilities at the employer-provided housing. Facilities include a refrigerator, stove/oven, microwave, sink with hot and cold running water, food preparation and storage areas, cooking utensils, dishes, and other facilities necessary for the worker to prepare meals.

Transport: Employer will provide or pay for transportation and daily subsistence from the worker's place of recruitment to the place of employment as required by the H-2A regulations. Upon completion of the work contract, or when otherwise required by law, employer will provide or pay for return transportation and daily subsistence to the worker's place of recruitment.

Experience wanted: 6 months

Requires 6 months of verifiable experience in agricultural, horticultural, turf, grounds, or crop-production work. Worker must be able to safely operate agricultural and grounds-maintenance equipment including tractors, mowers, bush hogs, UTVs, backpack sprayers, blowers, and similar equipment after employer orientation. Must be able to perform physically demanding outdoor agricultural work in varying weather conditions; regularly walk, bend, stoop, push, pull, and perform repetitive movements. Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. Must possess a valid driver's license or be eligible to obtain one as required for assigned driving duties. Employer will provide job-specific instruction regarding farm practices, equipment, and crop-production procedures.
