The job
Feeding is seasonal and only occurs during the winter months. Calving is also seasonal and takes place during the late winter and early spring months. Employees will be responsible for feeding round bales to cattle during the winter feeding season and assisting with calving during the late winter and early spring. Job duties include feeding and watering livestock; monitoring feed and water supplies; mixing feed, additives, and medications in prescribed portions; ordering and distributing feed using trucks, tractors, or other equipment; examining animals to detect illness, injury, disease, or abnormal weight gain; assisting with animal reproduction, including breeding, artificial insemination, and calving; and maintaining growth, feeding, production, and cost records, as well as operational records and inventories of materials, equipment, and products. The employer, at its sole discretion, may grant pay increases based on factors such as performance, longevity, and/or experience. Employer may also, at its sole discretion, offer performance-based incentive bonuses that are not guaranteed and are determined by the employer.
Housing: Employer-provided (including mobile or range)
Meals: The employer will furnish free and convenient cooking and kitchen facilities and space for food preparation, as well as the necessary equipment, appliances (including refrigeration),cooking accessories, and dish washing facilities (e.g., adequate sinks with hot and cold water under pressure) that are in working condition and will be used by workers to sufficiently prepare three (3) meals a day. Employer will offer free transportation to town for personal services (i.e. banking, groceries) at least once per week for non range workers.
Transport: The employer will pay the worker for reasonable costs incurred by the worker for transportation and daily subsistence from the place from which the worker has come to work for the employer, whether in the U.S. or abroad to the place of employment (inbound/outbound). The employer will permit workers to select any means of transportation they choose and reimburse workers at no less than the most economical and reasonable common carrier transportation charges for the distances involved.
Experience wanted: 3 months
Employer will conduct post-hire drug testing at no cost to the employee to enforce a drug-free workplace policy. Failing drug test will result in termination. Employer will conduct post-hire criminal background checks at no cost to the employee and will not employ anyone with a felony or theft-related criminal background, in accordance with the workplace safety policy and company hiring practices as allowed by law. Job requires exposure to extreme outdoor temperatures and repetitive movements. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. Must possess a valid regular driver's license. Require 3 months experience.
