The job

Feed and water livestock and monitor food and water supplies. Herd livestock to pastures for grazing or to scales, trucks, or other enclosures. Examine animals to detect illness, injury, or disease, and to check physical characteristics, such as rate of weight gain. Provide medical treatment, such as administering medications and vaccinations, or arrange for veterinarians to provide more extensive treatment. Mark livestock to identify ownership and grade, using brands, tags, paint, or tattoos. Maintain heated watering system. Segregate animals according to weight, age, color, and physical condition. Inspect, maintain, and repair equipment, machinery, buildings, pens, yards, and fences. Move equipment or livestock from one location to another, manually or using trucks or carts. Mix feed, additives, and medicines in prescribed portions. Perform duties related to livestock reproduction, such as breeding animals within appropriate timeframes, performing artificial inseminations, and helping with animal births. Shift animals between grazing areas to ensure that they have sufficient access to food. Groom, clip, trim, or castrate animals, dock ears and tails, or shear coats to collect hair. Spray livestock with disinfectants and insecticides, or dip or bathe animals. Operate snow removal equipment in order to operate feed wagons. Remove ice formed in water. Drive pick-up truck to town for cattle supplies on occasion. Farming with: Beef Cattle. No CDL Required and no commercial truck driving required.

Housing: Employer-provided (including mobile or range)

Meals: Employer-provided housing includes free and convenient kitchen facilities with appropriate equipment, appliances, cooking accessories, and dishwashing facilities for meal preparation. For workers residing in employer-provided housing, employer also provides free transportation once per week to/from closest town or city for personal errands (e.g., groceries, banking services).

Transport: The employer will permit workers to select any means of transportation they choose and provide reimbursement upon arrival at the farm for all inbound and outbound transportation at no less than the most economical and reasonable common carrier transportation charges for the distance involved. This may include plane, train, bus, or automobile.

Experience wanted: 3 months

Minimum of 3 months of experience is required. Must be able to obtain a driver's license within 30 days of hire. Employer requires drug screen post hire at employers expense due to the liability of operating equipment. Employer requires criminal background check post-hire at employers' expense due to the presence of children on the farm and expensive tools and equipment. Failure to pass drug screen and/or criminal background check will result in termination of employment. Lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds. The worker will be exposed to extreme temperatures. Workers must have positive verifiable experience relevant to the job and be capable of performing physically demanding tasks. Workers must be able to speak English. Employees must adhere to strict biosecurity, company policies, and food safety guidelines, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.
