Ranch Hand and Livestock Worker

Pay: $20.56/hour

Season: Nov 4, 2026 – Aug 1, 2027

Experience: 3 months

Employer-provided housing; Transportation provided/reimbursed

The job

Job duties include but are not limited to:

Feeding, watering, herding, castrating, branding, weighing, catching, and loading animals

Examining animals to detect diseases and injuries

Assisting in birthing, administering medications, vaccinations, or insecticides

Maintaining winter animal housing areas; using diggers, shovels and other equipment needed

Ongoing maintenance includes cleaning, maintaining and repair of equipment, various workshop tasks as well as maintenance of fences.

Repair fences, dig post holes, install and remove electrical fences.

Rake and bale hay

Use of various farm and cattle specific farming equipment

Drive farm trucks, tractors, and other farming equipment to distribute food to cattle

Receive and place stocker cattle and cows on wheat and corn stalks for grazing

Pull cattle off stalks and other grazed crops

Gather cattle and move cattle with 4-wheelers and stock trailers

Housing: Employer-provided (including mobile or range)

Meals: Housing provided to the worker has a fully equipped kitchen where the worker can prepare and cook his own meals three times a day. The kitchen is fully functional and equipped with appliances such as stove, refrigerator, microwave and dishwasher – all in working condition. The kitchen is equipped with the necessary utensils for prepping and cooking food. Adequate sinks with the warm and cold water under pressure. The employer will ensure that the worker has access to a grocery store at least once a week to purchase own food/produce. The worker has access to a vehicle to drive to the grocery stores from the house to the stores and back.

Transport: The Employer will, as per H2A regulations, reimburse the worker for travel cost, including daily subsistence rates stipulated at the time, from the worker’s place of residence to the workplace, and upon contract completion, from the workplace back to the worker’s place of residence at no less than the most economical and reasonable common carrier transportation charge for the distance involved, for example return bus and or airfare.
