The job
General farmhands for Crawfish and rice harvest. Crawfish includes repair and maintain farm equip., shop, fields, levees, water maintenance & tractor driving. Crawfishing involves manually cutting up bait, bait traps; operate motorized boats; traps are removed from the pond, crawfish are emptied into sacks, traps are re-baited and put back into pond; weigh, tag, wash, grade, load crawfish in truck and bring to market; frequent stooping and lifting requirement of 60lbs., repetitive movements and working outside in inclement weather conditions. The worker (s) may be requested but not required to work more than 8 hours per day and/or the Sabbath depending upon the conditions at the worksite, weather, and maturity of the crop. Rice includes help repair and maintain farm equipment, shop, fields, levees and farm roads. Drive tractor, drive rice truck to rice bins and rice mill, assist with loading /unloading rice trucks, maintain rice bins to include clean up rice spills, sweeping rice spills, working outside in inclement weather conditions. Housing provided on the premises at no cost. Tools, supplies & equipment provided at no cost. Transportation and subsistence expenses to the worksite will be paid by the employer upon completion of 50% of the work contract. Employees may Make above hourly wage and/or receive bonuses based on work performance and experience, may be subject to random drug screen paid by employer upon hire or if suspicions arise--this is a drug free work zone. Must have legal authority to work within the United States.
Housing: Employer-provided (including mobile or range)
Meals: Employer will furnish free and convenient cooking and kitchen facilities so workers may prepare their own meals. Employer will provide (on a voluntary basis) transportation to assure workers have access to stores where they can purchase groceries.
Transport: The employer will provide or pay for charter bus services or other modes of transportation to groups of H-2A or U.S. workers, or permit workers to select any means of transportation they choose and reimburse workers at no less than the most economical and reasonable common carrier transportation charges for the distances involved to and from the place of employment.
