The job

Perform general winter agricultural duties associated with the employer’s farming and livestock operation. Clean and maintain farm equipment following completion of the harvest season, including removing accumulated dirt, mud, crop residue, and debris. Clean and organize farm workshops, equipment storage areas, and other agricultural work areas. Perform snow and ice removal around farm buildings, livestock areas, equipment storage areas, and farm access areas as necessary to maintain safe and efficient farm operations.

• Provide winter care for cattle and other farm livestock, including hand feeding as necessary, distributing feed, checking feed and water supplies, and observing animals for general health and well-being. Monitor heating systems in livestock shelters and perform basic maintenance necessary to keep animal housing operational during cold weather. Check livestock watering systems and thaw or remove ice from frozen water sources and equipment as necessary to maintain access to drinking water.

• Handle agricultural products produced by the employer’s farming operation. Duties may include sorting, processing, preparing, packaging, weighing, labeling, and stocking employer-produced farm products for storage or direct sale. Maintain clean and sanitary agricultural processing, packaging, and storage areas. At the employer’s farm retail operation, stock and arrange employer-produced agricultural products and assist with the handling of those products to customers.

• Perform other minor agricultural maintenance and winter farm duties directly related to the employer’s farming and livestock operation as needed.

Housing: Employer-provided (including mobile or range)

Meals: Workers will have access to fully equipped kitchen facilities to prepare meals. Transportation will be available to travel between work, housing and grocery stores to purchase groceries. The workers will be fully equipped to prepare a lunch box for work. Workers will not be charged for meals.

Transport: Employer will reimburse the inbound flight or most economical transportation once the worker completes 50% of their contract. Once the worker completes 100% of the contract the employer will reimburse or provide the outbound flight or most economical transportation.

Workers should own or be able to obtain a class D Drivers license to drive vehicle between housing, grocery stores and place of employment.

Workers should be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
