The job
- Herd buffalo, including to pens for potential sales
- Perform water line maintenance to ensure adequate water sources for buffalo
- Perform land maintenance, welding and fence work as needed
- Fill and maintain feeders
Housing: Employer-provided (including mobile or range)
Meals: The house provided to the worker is furnished with potable drinking water and has a full kitchen that allows for the preparation of meals. Any employees who do not have their own transportation will be provided transportation upon request by the ranch manager to go into town and purchase groceries from any grocery store in Terlingua or nearby as needed. The local area has multiple general stores that stock necessities and groceries to meet employee’s needs.
Transport: Employer will permit workers to select any reasonable means of transportation they choose and reimburse workers at no less than the most economical and reasonable common carrier transportation charges for the distances involved, and reimburse for daily meals.
Experience wanted: 12 months
Employer requires at least one year of experience working on a farm or ranch and performing work such as caring for livestock, fixing fences, cutting trees, mowing and baling hay, etc.
The employers ranch spans a substantial area encompassing remote and rugged terrains in South Texas, in the proximity of Big Bend National Park and the U.S. Mexico border. Given the remoteness of the range and the lack of population and services in the proximity, the employer requires 12 months of experience in farming or ranching so that the employee will be better equipped to carry out his or her duties, such as fencing repair and the filling and maintaining of feeders which are heavy pieces of equipment which must be transported over difficult terrain - in the remote expanses of the ranch to a satisfactory and safe degree.
