The job
Inspecting, maintaining, repairing, and replacing frozen or malfunctioning feed lines, augers, waterers, drinkers, and water plumbing to maintain uninterrupted feed and water delivery during freezing temperatures. Thawing frozen nipple drinkers, troughs, and water lines as needed. Inspecting, maintaining, and repairing furnaces, heaters, and heating systems to prevent water pipes from freezing and to protect animals from cold stress. Insulating, heat-taping, and wrapping exposed water lines, hydrants, and pipes to prevent freeze-ups. Monitoring barn temperatures and adjusting heaters, curtains, air inlets, and ventilation settings to maintain safe environmental conditions during cold weather and storms. Clearing snow and ice from fans, air inlets, and curtains so ventilation systems operate properly. Clearing snow and ice from driveways, access roads, barn entrances, doors, and loading areas to ensure timely feed deliveries and safe access. Applying salt, sand, or ice melt to walkways, steps, and loading areas to maintain safe footing. Inspecting and maintaining backup generators and monitoring propane or LP gas levels to ensure heating and ventilation continue during power outages. Checking and repairing door seals, weather stripping, and windbreaks to reduce drafts and heat loss. Minimum of one (1) month of verifiable farm experience. Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. Ability to work for extended periods outdoors and in unheated or partially heated facilities in extreme cold and inclement winter weather conditions.
Housing: Employer-provided (including mobile or range)
Meals: The employer will furnish free and convenient cooking and kitchen facilities so workers may prepare their own meals. Employer will provide (on a voluntary basis) transportation to assure workers access to stores where they can purchase groceries and/or other incidentals.
If free and convenient kitchen facilities become unavailable for any reason, the employer will provide three (3) meals a day for which it will charge individual workers, by payroll deduction, no more than the daily permitted amount as provided in 20 CFR 655.173, which was $16.78 as of April 7, 2026, and which may be increased during the period of this employment.
Transport: Employer will either arrange for inbound and outbound transportation via a charter bus service for the worker, or if the worker prefers to arrange their own transportation, Employer will reimburse the worker at no less than the most economical and reasonable common carrier transportation charges for the distances involved as well as for the related daily subsistence costs while the worker is traveling. One month of livestock equipment installation and repair experience required. Must be able to lift and carry 75lbs for 75yds. Employees will receive a monthly $50 cell phone reimbursement.
