The job
Workers will sort apples according to size, color and grade before packing; line boxes, cartons or crates with treated paper or cardboard; place apples in containers for storage or shipment; weigh, stamp, brand and date of packing on container, and pack apples according to the quality and method of the employer. Workers will process Cider apples. Workers load apples into the cider press. The press processes the apples and extracts the juice. All apples used are grown at Chazy Orchards. The cider is regular cider. Workers will also perform general orchard tasks, including apple tree pruning, setting, and removing hail netting, and apple bin repair. Work requires long periods of standing and bending and kneeling. Workers must be able to lift and carry up to 80 pounds and be available to work Monday through Saturday. Workers must also be willing to work in varied weather conditions. The employer will provide 1 day of training and allow 2 days of work for the worker to satisfactorily perform all duties in this job order. Licensed workers may be requested to operate trucks or other multi-purpose farm plated vehicles to transport workers (whether on or off farm) to farm property, carrying tools, supplies, trees or crops. Licensed operators may also be asked to transport workers from place to place around the farm properties during the workday (including on public roads to reach farmers’ fields). Employer will furnish to workers without cost all tools and equipment required to perform duties assigned. Worker will be given 30 minutes for lunch. Hours and daily work schedule may vary based on weather and crop conditions. Workers must be able to take direction in simple English due to federal safety regulations. All applicants must be able, willing, and qualified to perform the work described in this job description and must be available for the entire period of employment specified in this order. This work order is for qualified people to perform a combination of tasks involved in the picking and packing of apples. The percentage of apples which are produced and packed by Chazy Orchards is 100% and ZERO percent of apples are grown by other producers.
The 24 workers requested in this order are currently working at Giroux Orchards, LLC. Therefore, the total number remains at 198.
Housing: Employer-provided (including mobile or range)
Meals: Employer will furnish free cooking and kitchen facilities to those workers who are entitled to live in the employer's housing so that workers may prepare their own meals. Workers will buy their own groceries. Once a week the employer will offer to provide (on a voluntary bases by the workers) free transportation to assure workers access to the closest store where they can purchase groceries.
Transport: Employer will provide or pay for airline tickets, charter bus services, or other commercial bus service to H-2A or U.S. workers, or permit workers to select any means of transportation that they choose. Employer will reimburse workers at no less than the most economical and reasonable common carrier transportation charges for the distances involved. See Addendum C.

Employer agrees to provide to the worker, without charge or deposit charge, all tools, supplies, and equipment required to perform the duties assigned.
