The job

The seasonal agricultural worker will perform duties related to both crop and livestock production. Responsibilities include preparing fields for planting; attaching and operating farm implements such as plows, discs, sprayers, planters, seed drills, manure spreaders, combines, irrigation systems, and other agricultural machinery; and loading and unloading crops or materials manually or using conveyors, forklifts, augers, or hand tools. The worker will operate and monitor equipment, as well as perform routine repairs on equipment, vehicles, and farm facilities. Duties also include driving farm trucks to transport crops, supplies, and tools. In livestock operations, the worker will feed and water animals; monitor feed and water supplies; mix and distribute feed, supplements, and medications; examine livestock for signs of illness, injury, or abnormal conditions; assist with vaccinations, basic treatments, and animal health care; and support breeding and birthing activities as needed. Additional tasks include grooming and handling livestock; herding and moving animals between pastures or enclosures; identifying and marking livestock; and cleaning and maintaining pens, stalls, and equipment using appropriate tools and disinfectants. The worker will also assist with maintaining fences, buildings, and farm grounds, and may be required to maintain records related to production, feeding, and inventory. Work is performed outdoors in varying weather conditions and requires frequent standing, walking, bending, and repetitive movements, as well as the ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds. (75% of the job will be livestock work (45-2093) and 25% of the work will be equipment operation (45-2091)). The employer, at its sole discretion, may grant pay increases based on factors such as performance, longevity, and/or experience. Workers returning for a consecutive season will be paid at the previous season’s rate ($19.21/hr) if that rate exceeds the current published rate.

Housing: Employer-provided (including mobile or range)

Meals: The employer will furnish free and convenient cooking and kitchen facilities and space for food preparation, as well as the necessary equipment, appliances (including refrigeration),cooking accessories, and dish washing facilities (e.g., adequate sinks with hot and cold water under pressure) that are in working condition and will be used by workers to sufficiently prepare three (3) meals a day. Employer will offer free transportation to town for personal services (i.e. banking, groceries) at least once per week for non range workers.

Transport: The employer will pay the worker for reasonable costs incurred by the worker for transportation and daily subsistence from the place from which the worker has come to work for the employer, whether in the U.S. or abroad to the place of employment (inbound/outbound). The employer will permit workers to select any means of transportation they choose and reimburse workers at no less than the most economical and reasonable common carrier transportation charges for the distances involved.

Experience wanted: 3 months

Job requires exposure to extreme outdoor temperatures, extensive pushing or pulling, extensive sitting or walking, frequent stooping or bending over, repetitive movements. Must be able to lift 50 lbs. Must have a regular driver's license. Must have 3 months previous farm experience.
