The job

Operate farm semi-trucks and other heavy trucks with capacities greater than three tons to transport and deliver crops, livestock, feed, farm supplies, equipment, and other agricultural materials. Inspect, load, and secure cargo using appropriate chains, binders, straps, covers, blocks, or other securing equipment and verify that loads are complete and properly secured. Drive tractor-trailer combinations and other farm trucks between fields, farm locations, grain facilities, markets, suppliers, and other agricultural destinations. Plan and adjust routes using maps, GPS, and other navigation equipment as needed. Maneuver trucks safely into loading and unloading positions and assist with loading and unloading when necessary. Couple and uncouple trailers and operate trailer landing gear and other equipment. Operate forklifts, augers, conveyors, suction gates, shovels, pitchforks, and other equipment to load or transfer agricultural products. Attach farm implements such as plows, discs, sprayers, or harvesters to tractors using bolts and hand tools, and operate tractors and other farm machinery as needed to assist with agricultural production activities. Check trucks and equipment to ensure mechanical, safety, and emergency equipment is in proper working order; perform basic vehicle maintenance and minor roadside repairs as needed. Maintain required records and logs, report vehicle defects or damage, and communicate with supervisors and other drivers using phones, radios, GPS, or truck communication systems. Remove debris from trailers and maintain clean and orderly vehicles and equipment. Additional duties may include operating tractors, combines, planters, sprayers, seed drills, manure spreaders, irrigation equipment, and other agricultural machinery; loading and unloading grain, crops, feed, and other agricultural products; transporting grain and other farm commodities to market or storage facilities; assisting with grain-bin loading and unloading; inspecting and maintaining trailers, trucks, and farm equipment; installing or removing tire chains and other special equipment when needed; and performing general farm maintenance and cleanup as directed.(Job is 60% Trucking and 40% Agricultural Equipment Operator)

Housing: Employer-provided (including mobile or range)

Meals: The employer will furnish free and convenient cooking and kitchen facilities and space for food preparation, as well as the necessary equipment, appliances (including refrigeration),cooking accessories, and dish washing facilities (e.g., adequate sinks with hot and cold water under pressure) that are in working condition and will be used by workers to sufficiently prepare three (3) meals a day. Employer will offer free transportation to town for personal services (i.e. banking, groceries) at least once per week for non range workers.

Transport: The employer will pay the worker for reasonable costs incurred by the worker for transportation and daily subsistence from the place from which the worker has come to work for the employer, whether in the U.S. or abroad to the place of employment (inbound/outbound). The employer will permit workers to select any means of transportation they choose and reimburse workers at no less than the most economical and reasonable common carrier transportation charges for the distances involved.

Experience wanted: 3 months

The employee must have 3 months previous farm experience. Employer will conduct post-hire drug testing at no cost to the employee to enforce a drug-free workplace policy. Failure to pass a required drug test will result in termination of employment. Must have a Class A CDL or equivalent, or be able to obtain a Class A CDL or equivalent within 30 days of hire. The employee must be able to read and speak the English language sufficiently to converse with the general public, to understand highway traffic signs and signals in English, to respond to official inquiries, and to make entries on reports and records.
