The job

Perform seasonal winter inspection, diagnosis, repair, rebuilding, overhaul, calibration, and preseason preparation of farm machinery and equipment while field equipment is not in use. The primary purpose of the position is to complete extensive repairs and prepare the farm’s equipment fleet for spring planting and the upcoming crop-production season. Inspect and repair tractors, combines, planters, tillage equipment, cultivators, farm trucks, trailers, grain carts, augers, conveyors, grain legs, dryers, cleaners, fans, motors, pumps, and related agricultural equipment. Use diagnostic tools, gauges, meters, service manuals, and manufacturer specifications to identify mechanical, electrical, electronic, hydraulic, pneumatic, and structural problems. Disassemble equipment; inspect components for wear, damage, leakage, misalignment, or failure; rebuild or replace defective components; reassemble equipment; make adjustments; and test operation. Repair or rebuild engines, transmissions, drivetrains, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, brakes, steering, suspension, bearings, gears, shafts, chains, sprockets, sensors, controls, frames, and other major equipment components. Inspect, repair, adjust, and calibrate planters and tillage equipment for spring field operations. Complete post-harvest repairs and overhauls on combines and harvesting equipment. Repair farm-owned trucks, trailers, and grain-handling equipment used in the employer’s agricultural operation. Perform welding, cutting, grinding, drilling, fabrication, and structural metal repair as necessary to restore farm machinery and equipment. Maintain repair records and organize tools, replacement parts, and shop supplies. Move and operate equipment only as necessary for diagnosis, repair, calibration, adjustment, and testing. Follow manufacturer instructions and employer safety procedures. No CDL Required and no commercial truck driving required.

Housing: Employer-provided (including mobile or range)

Meals: Employer-provided housing includes free and convenient kitchen facilities with appropriate equipment, appliances, cooking accessories, and dishwashing facilities for meal preparation. For workers residing in employer-provided housing, employer also provides free transportation once per week to/from closest town or city for personal errands (e.g., groceries, banking services).

Transport: The employer will permit workers to select any means of transportation they choose and provide reimbursement upon arrival at the farm for all inbound and outbound transportation at no less than the most economical and reasonable common carrier transportation charges for the distance involved. This may include plane, train, bus, or automobile.

Experience wanted: 3 months

Minimum of 3 months of experience is required. Must be able to obtain a driver's license within 30 days of hire. Employer requires criminal background check post-hire at employers' expense due to the presence of children and expensive tools and equipment on the farm. Failure to pass criminal background check will result in termination of employment. Lift and carry items weighing up to 60 pounds. The worker will be exposed to extreme temperatures. Extensive pushing and pulling is required. Frequent stooping is required. Repetitive movements is required. Workers must have positive verifiable experience relevant to the job and be capable of performing physically demanding tasks. Workers must be able to speak English. Employees must adhere to strict biosecurity, company policies, and food safety guidelines, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.
