The job

We need seasonal employees to assist with our crop production season for wheat, oats, sorghum, rye, and triticale. Employees will be required to do farm work all assigned duties related to growing, maintaining, and harvesting these crops. Job duties include preparing fields for planting; detaching farm implements such as plows, discs, scrapers, or harvesters to tractors using bolts and hand tools; operating tractors, planters, sprayers, seed drills, manure spreaders, combines, irrigation equipment, and other farm machinery; engaging in planting, weeding, spraying, cultivating, and harvesting activities; fertilizing and spraying crops; applying fertilizer or pesticide solutions using hand sprayers, installing, maintaining, and repairing pivot irrigation systems; loading and unloading crops or materials manually or with conveyors, forklifts, trailers, cranes, or hand trucks; loading hoppers, containers, or conveyors using forklifts; using safety chains, tow hooks, farm augers, cornhead trailers, fuel, hydraulic, and other farm mechanisms or equipment; observing and listening to machinery during operation to detect malfunctions; inspecting, adjusting, and conducting routine maintenance and repairs on equipment and irrigation systems; recording agricultural data as required; cleaning work areas, equipment, and facilities and maintaining farm grounds and landscaping; planting, transplanting, potting, pruning, spraying, weeding, fertilizing, watering, and tying plants, shrubs, trees, seedlings, cuttings, sod, fruits, and vegetables; identifying plants, pests, and weeds to determine appropriate pesticide and fertilizer application and treatment; maintaining pest control procedures to prevent crop spoilage including pest control; harvesting fruits, including crops in various stages and types; loading agricultural products into trucks and hauling them to markets, storage, or delivery locations; maintaining and repairing farm vehicles, implements, equipment, buildings, fences, and other structures; maintaining inventory of plants, materials, equipment, or products and ordering supplies as needed; keeping operational and production records; directing and monitoring seasonal or casual employees during planting and harvesting activities; providing information to customers or the public regarding the selection, purchase, and care of plants or farm products; selling and delivering plants, flowers, or agricultural products to customers; performing building cleaning, upkeep, painting, maintenance, mowing, and weed-eating; rouging wheat fields for off-type varieties by walking and clearing grain bins. The employer, at its sole discretion, may grant any increases based on factors such as performance, longevity, and/or experience. Employment is at the sole discretion of the employer. Performance-based incentive bonuses that are not guaranteed and are determined by the employer may be available. Job requires exposure to extreme outdoor temperatures, extensive sitting or walking, frequent pushing and pulling, and repetitive movements.

Housing: Employer-provided (including mobile or range)

Meals: Employer will furnish free and convenient cooking and kitchen facilities at no cost to workers. Housing will include a kitchen equipped with a stove, refrigerator, sink, food preparation areas, cookware, utensils, and dining facilities, allowing workers to prepare their own meals. In the alternative, the employer may provide three meals per day prepared in its own kitchen or obtained from local restaurants in accordance with H-2A program requirements.

Transport: Employer agrees to provide transportation between housing and place of employment using the business pickup truck. Alternatively, employer will provide or reimburse inbound transportation and daily subsistence to eligible workers who complete 50% of the work contract. The employer will also provide or reimburse return transportation and daily subsistence to eligible workers who complete the contract period or are terminated without cause, in accordance with H-2A program requirements.

Must be at least 18 years of age. No minimum education required. No prior experience required; employer will provide on-the-job training. Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds. Must be able to work outdoors in varying weather conditions, including heat, cold, wind, and rain. Must be able to perform prolonged standing, walking, bending, stooping, kneeling, and repetitive physical labor. Must follow all employer safety rules and work instructions. Workers may be required to operate standard agricultural tools and equipment after training. Drug-free workplace.
