The job
Workers will perform seasonal agricultural duties associated with greenhouse vegetable production and tree farm care during the winter and spring season. The majority of the workers' time will be spent on winter agricultural operations on the farm, with an emphasis on snow removal, snow maintenance of farm buildings, and tree farm maintenance. Snow removal duties include clearing snow on the farm by blading and snow blowing and removing snow from farm buildings to support normal agricultural operations. Workers will perform general farm labor in the greenhouse in support of vegetable production. Tree farm duties include checking tree condition, fertilizing, and replanting coniferous, hardwood, and fruit trees. Workers will operate tractors and related farm equipment used in greenhouse vegetable production, tree farm work, and snow removal on the farm. Duties include routine maintenance of agricultural equipment and servicing equipment in the farm shop to ensure it remains in proper operating condition. Duties are seasonal in nature and support the employer's greenhouse vegetable production and tree farm operations. Work requires attention to detail, safe work practices, and the ability to efficiently perform manual tasks associated with greenhouse, tree farm, and winter farm work. Employees will be provided with adequate breaks, including meal and rest periods, consistent with applicable Federal, State, and local law, during the course of each workday.
Housing: Employer-provided (including mobile or range)
Meals: Employer-provided housing includes free and convenient kitchen facilities with appropriate equipment, appliances, cooking accessories, and dish-washing facilities for meal preparation. For workers residing in employer-provided housing, employer also provides free transportation once per week to/from closest town or city for personal errands (e.g., groceries, banking services).
Transport: Employer will permit workers to select any means of transportation they choose and
provide reimbursement upon arrival at the farm for all inbound and outbound transportation at no less than the most economical and reasonable common carrier transportation charges for the distance involved. This may include plane, train, bus, or automobile.
Experience wanted: 3 months
Minimum of 3 months of related experience is required. Worker must be able to lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds and will be exposed to extreme temperatures. Wage rate may increase based on verifiable experience. Employer may reward exceptional work with monetary or other benefits in addition to those listed in the job order at the employer's sole discretion. Operator License Class D required. The selected candidate will have 60 days to obtain the required license.
