The job

Workers will perform seasonal winter livestock facility maintenance and cold-weather agricultural operations focused on maintaining safe, functional, and weather-resilient dairy housing and equipment during freezing conditions. Duties will include operating, inspecting, adjusting, repairing, and maintaining approximately 14,800 feet of barn sidewall curtains used for winter ventilation and temperature control; removing, cleaning, inspecting, repairing, and replacing belts and bearings on approximately 245 barn ventilation fans, including washing fan blades and reinstalling related components; operating, inspecting, and repairing large overhead barn doors used for access by feeding equipment, tractors, skid steers, and personnel; maintaining pumping systems by clearing frozen blockages from pump lines using warm-water equipment and performing related maintenance; removing frozen tires and plastic covers from silage piles, sorting plastic materials for proper disposal, breaking up frozen silage using tractors, front-end loaders, and other farm equipment, and hauling unusable frozen silage to designated agricultural fields or disposal areas. Workers will also operate loaders and skid steers inside cow and heifer barns to remove accumulated frozen waste material from livestock pens and floors, stack removed material outside the barns, and transport accumulated material to approved agricultural locations as necessary. Additional duties will include spreading sand and salt throughout barns and livestock traffic areas to maintain safe walking surfaces during icy conditions; inspecting, thawing, repairing, and replacing components of approximately 250 livestock waterers and associated heaters to maintain continuous access to drinking water during freezing temperatures; operating tractors, skid steers, front-end loaders, and other farm equipment necessary to perform these duties; and performing general cleaning, maintenance, repair, and winterization of livestock facilities, equipment, and agricultural infrastructure as necessary to maintain the dairy operation during freezing temperatures. There are few typical days and workers may be required to change duties and/or locations often and engage in various general functions. The employer reserves the right to increase workers' pay or provide bonuses based on tenure, performance, or other factors that are solely based on the discretion of the employer.

Housing: Employer-provided (including mobile or range)

Meals: The employer will provide, without charge or deposit, free and convenient kitchen and cooking facilities to prepare meals. The workers will be allowed time to drive themselves or will be transported to a store or market to purchase their own food and cooking supplies. Employer provided housing contains a refrigerator, stove, oven, and operational sink with hot and cold water under pressure. In the event that the workers are unable to prepare meals at the housing location, the employer will provide three sufficient meals a day free of charge.

Transport: After worker has completed 50% of the work contract period, employer will reimburse worker for the cost of transportation and subsistence from the place of recruitment to the place of employment. Employee transportation will be arranged to and from their country of origin by either plane, train, bus, taxi service or own vehicle; whichever is most economical. The employer will properly reimburse employees for such travel as defined in 20 CFR 655.122(h). Continued in Addendum C.

Experience wanted: 3 months

Job requires having or being able to obtain a drivers license within 30 days of hire. Basic English literacy skills are required. Job will require periods when workers may be exposed to varying weather conditions and extensive pushing, pulling, sitting, walking, stooping, bending, or repetitive movements.
