The job
The worker will perform seasonal agricultural duties associated with the winter feeding and care of beef cattle on a livestock operation in north central South Dakota, where winter conditions do not allow the cattle to graze. The majority of the worker's time will be spent feeding cows and calves daily throughout the winter months. The worker will operate tractors used in the cattle operation and will haul hay, move and stack hay bales, and handle and store grain used as cattle feed. The worker will perform trucking and hauling duties related to the farm operation. Duties also include moving livestock, handling cattle, and attending to the health and wellbeing of the cattle as part of daily livestock care. The worker will maintain feeding equipment and perform routine maintenance of other farm equipment used in the cattle operation to keep it in proper working condition. Incidental duties include moving snow on the farm as needed during the winter months. The worker will also perform general farm labor directly related to the cattle operation. Duties are seasonal in nature and directly support the employer's livestock production during the winter feeding period. Work hours are dependent on weather, crop conditions, and operational demands and may fluctuate during the season. Employees will be provided with adequate breaks, including meal and rest periods, consistent with applicable Federal, State, and local law, during the course of each workday.

Meals: Employer-provided housing includes free and convenient kitchen facilities with appropriate equipment, appliances, cooking accessories, and dish-washing facilities for meal preparation. For workers residing in employer-provided housing, employer also provides free transportation once per week to/from closest town or city for personal errands (e.g., groceries, banking services).
Transport: Employer will permit workers to select any means of transportation they choose and
provide reimbursement upon arrival at the farm for all inbound and outbound transportation at no less than the most economical and reasonable common carrier transportation charges for the distance involved. This may include plane, train, bus, or automobile.
Experience wanted: 3 months
Minimum of 3 months of related experience is required. Worker must be able to lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds and will be exposed to extreme temperatures. Wage rate may increase based on verifiable experience. Employer may reward exceptional work with monetary or other benefits in addition to those listed in the job order at the employer's sole discretion. Operator License Class D required. The selected candidate will have 60 days to obtain the required license.
