The job

Workers will handle and manage stored corn and beans grown by the employer, kept in temporary grain storage bags and on-farm bins because of a larger than normal inventory carried over from prior crop years. Duties include: Assist with the operation of grain bagging and extraction equipment to fill, unload and empty grain storage bags; seal bag ends and tie off completed bags. Inspect storage bags daily for tears, punctures, moisture and pest or wildlife damage; patch and repair damaged bags by hand using repair tape and hand tools. Monitor stored grain condition, including temperature and moisture checks, and report problems to the supervisor. Transfer grain between bags and trucks. Place grain into trucks for delivery to buyers; record loads and lot information. Hand shovel, sweep and clean up spilled grain at bag sites, bins and loading areas; clean equipment after use. Remove empty storage bags and dispose of or recycle bag material after extraction. Clear snow and ice from bag sites, bin access areas and loading areas as needed to maintain safe access to stored grain. Work outdoors in cold winter conditions. Must speak and understand English.

Housing: Employer-provided (including mobile or range)

Meals: Employer will furnish free and convenient cooking and kitchen facilities, all of which are in working order, including refrigeration, space for food preparation, cooking accessories and utensils, appliances, and dishwashing facilities so that workers may prepare their own meals. Kitchen facilities include adequate sinks with hot and cold water under pressure. Employer will provide transportation once a week to assure workers access to stores where they can purchase groceries, when the employer is providing cooking and kitchen facilities.

Be able to work in extreme conditions such as heat, humidity, wind, cold. Lift and carry supplies. Follow instructions. Once hired, worker may be required to take a random drug test at no cost to the worker. Testing positive or failure to comply may result in immediate termination from employment. Must be able to obtain appropriate drivers license within 30 days following hire and obtain clean driving record to be able to operate company vehicle. Lift up to 50 lbs.
