The job
Operate tractors and farm machinery to prepare soil, plant, cultivate, spray, fertilize, harvest, and store grain and forage crops grown for the dairy operation. Attach and operate implements, including plows, discs, drills, mowers, balers, and harvesting equipment. Transport harvested crops to farm storage areas.
Prepare and adjust farm equipment for seasonal field operations, including setting up harvesting equipment and GPS guidance systems. Perform routine servicing, lubrication, and repairs on machinery used in these operations. Spread manure on agricultural fields, pick rocks, and maintain fences and farm structures associated with crop production. Must be able to lift and carry 60 pounds.
Housing: Employer-provided (including mobile or range)
Meals: Employer-provided housing includes free and convenient kitchen facilities with appropriate equipment, appliances, cooking accessories, and dish washing facilities for meal preparation. Workers will buy their own groceries. Once a week the employers will offer to provide (on a voluntary basis by the workers) free transportation to assure workers access to the closest store where they can purchase groceries.
Transport: The employer will provide advance transportation for reasonable common carrier or other transportation which conforms to the Interstate Commerce Commission (ICC) inbound transportation. If not the prevailing practice, the employer will reimburse the worker for transportation costs and subsistence to the employer's work site when the worker completes 50% of the work period.
Experience wanted: 3 months
Minimum of (3) months experience required. To comply with Federal, State and County regulations must be willing to obtain an appropriate driver's license (class D) within two months of employment. If applicant does have a license, applicant must furnish employer with current drivers abstract showing acceptable driving record. Class A license preferred. High school diploma/GED required. Proficient in speaking and reading Dutch and/or German to communicate with the maker of the combine. Ability to learn and use agricultural technology.
