The job
Move cattle to and from pastures during the grazing season, using low-stress handling to keep animals calm and prevent injury. Prepare and maintain pastures for grazing, including running irrigation, following the pasture rotation schedule, and repairing fences, gates, waterers, and water lines (including replacing filters and valves). Make sure all animals on pasture always have access to feed and water. Watch cattle during moves and on pasture, and separate and report any animal showing signs of illness, injury, or lameness. Haul feed and supplies to pasture sites as needed. Drive a company pickup to get parts and supplies. Clean and maintain the worksite, tools, and equipment.
Housing: Employer-provided (including mobile or range)
Meals: Employer will furnish free and convenient cooking and kitchen facilities so that workers may prepare their own
meals. Employer will provide transportation once a week to assure workers have access to stores where they can
purchase groceries since the employer is providing cooking and kitchen facilities
Transport: The employer will arrange and pay directly for transportation for each worker from the place of recruitment to the place of employment. This includes travel from the worker’s home to the U.S. consulate, from the consulate to the port of entry, and from the port of entry to the worksite. Workers will not pay for this transportation up front.
Experience wanted: 1 months
Lifting Requirement Justification
Workers must be able to lift up to 75 lbs. Pasture and fencing work on our operation means regularly lifting and carrying heavy items. These include rolls of fencing wire, posts, gates, water line parts, irrigation equipment, and tools, some of which weigh up to 75 lbs. Workers often have to carry these items by hand over pasture ground to places vehicles cant reach.
Drug Screening Justification
Random drug testing is required for safety. Workers drive company vehicles, may operate farm tractors and other heavy equipment, and work closely with large livestock. Doing any of these while impaired puts the worker, coworkers, and animals at serious risk. Equipment operator manuals specifically warn against operating under the influence of drugs. Our workers compensation and vehicle insurance carriers also require us to follow safety rules. Impaired judgment or unsafe driving can lead to serious or fatal accidents.
