The job
Farmworkers needed for crawfish season followed by rice season. Work includes tractor driving, field prep, water maintenance, fertilizing, planting, and harvesting crops. Field prep includes operating farm equipment, manual shovel work, hoeing of weeds, spot spray and general farm labor. Help repair and maintain bins, buildings, equipment, farm, fences, field, levees, ponds, property, roads, and shop. Load and unload. May operate motorized crawfish boat and/or walk/push boat. Crawfishing involves manually cutting of fish bait, setting traps, baiting traps, and checking traps. Will need to grade, wash, sack, and ice crawfish for shipment. Also required to make and repair traps as needed. Pickup/deliver crawfish as required. May deliver crop to coolers or market.
Housing: Employer-provided (including mobile or range)
Meals: EMPLOYER WILL FURNISH FREE AND CONVENIENT COOKING AND KITCHEN FACILITIES SO THAT THE WORKERS MAY PREPARE THEIR OWN MEALS.
EMPLOYER WILL FURNISH UTENSILS FOR COOKING, FOOD PREPARATION, SERVING AND EATING AT NO COST TO THE WORKERS.
EMPLOYER WILL PROVIDE TRANSPORTATION TO ASSURE THAT THE WORKER HAS ACCESS TO THE STORES WHERE THE WORKERS CAN PURCHASE GROCERIES.
Transport: FOR INBOUND AND OUTBOUND TRANSPORTATION, THE USUAL MODE OF TRANSPORT IS A COMMERCIAL BUS.
THE EMPLOYER WILL REIMBURSE THE WORKERS ONCE THEY ARRIVE, AT NO LESS THAN THE MOST ECONOMICAL AND REASONABLE COMMON CARRIER TRANSPORTATION CHARGES FOR THE DISTANCE INVOLVED. MEALS AND LODGING WILL BE REIMBURSED TO THE WORKER AT THE DAILY SUBSISTENCE AMOUNTS REQUIRED BY LAW.
Experience wanted: 6 months
Workers may be required to take random, post-accident, and/or upon suspicion drug tests POST HIRE AND AT THE EXPENSE OF THE EMPLOYER. Testing positive or failure to comply may result in immediate termination from employment. It is important to Employer that employees remain drug free while working and operating equipment as part of its farming operation.
