The job
Drive and control farm equipment and attached farm implements to plant, irrigate, cultivate, and harvest trees. Adjust, inspect, repair and service farm machinery. Specifically, they will set up and operate irrigation equipment, operate mowers, fertilize soil or plant, cultivate, spray and harvest trees. They will repair and maintain farm vehicles, implements, and mechanical equipment; apply herbicides and fertilizers to trees; clear and maintain irrigation ditches, and report to farm owners/managers as needed. Manipulate controls to set activate and adjust mechanisms or machinery. Observe and listen to machinery operations to detect equipment malfunctions. Adjust, repair and service farm machinery and notify supervisors when machinery malfunctions. Operate towed machines such as seed drills or manure spreaders to plant, fertilize, dust, and spray crops. Using hand sprayers, spray fertilizer, Irrigate soil using portable pipes or ditch systems, and maintain ditches, pipes and pumps.
