Using stainless steel knives, workers will manually trim cabbage by removing damaged, discolored, loose, or unwanted outer leaves and trimming stems to prepare cabbage for fresh-market sale. Workers will inspect cabbage for quality, size, condition, and defects; sort and grade cabbage according to employer specifications; and hand pack finished cabbage into boxes, bins, or other containers.
Operate trucks or other multi-purpose vehicles to transport workers from housing (weather on or off the farm) to the farm properties; haul tools, supplies, or crops; transport workers from place to place around the farm properties during the workday (including on public roads to reach the farm fields); and/or transport workers to the grocery store, bank, or laundry facilities on an as needed basis. Those that are requested to drive will be required to possess an appropriate license, no one will be rejected for this position that does not possess a drivers license.
Workers will manually place cabbage onto and remove cabbage from the conveyor line, assemble packing containers, weigh and label finished products, stack boxes, prepare pallets for shipment, and assist with loading and unloading cabbage and packing materials. Workers will move cabbage from storage areas to trimming and packing stations and assist with the handling and storage of the employer's agricultural products.
Workers will remove discarded cabbage leaves and plant debris, clean and sanitize knives, conveyor surfaces, packing tables, and work areas, and maintain sanitary conditions throughout the agricultural packing facility.
All cabbage trimming and packing is performed by hand on a conveyor line. Workers must be able to stand for extended periods, perform repetitive hand and arm movements, bend, reach, and lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
