The job

Employees perform all work under SOC 45-2093, spending 100% of their time supporting cattle and calf operations during the winter calving season when beef cattle and feeder cattle are confined, with breeding and calving of heifers and cows occurring from late December through July. During this period they help feed cattle and calves, prepare feed mixtures, and distribute feed to the animals, while also checking drinking-water supplies and cleaning troughs, tanks, and watering equipment to keep the herd supplied. They assist with cleaning out pens and refreshing bedding, check on cows during calving, and remain available to help with calving and new calves as needed, including vaccinating as required and supporting breeding activities and pregnancy checks as directed. After winter, the cattle are moved to pastures for grazing, and no manual feeding or care of animals is needed until the next winter. In addition to livestock work, employees assist with planting grain in the spring and harvesting crops in the summer, operating tractors, combines, and other farm equipment to complete those field tasks. The employer, at its sole discretion, may grant pay increases based on factors such as performance, longevity, and/or experience. Workers returning for a consecutive season will be paid at their previous season’s rate if that rate exceeds the current published rate.

Housing: Employer-provided (including mobile or range)

Meals: The employer will furnish free and convenient cooking and kitchen facilities and space for food preparation, as well as the necessary equipment, appliances (including refrigeration), cooking accessories, and dish washing facilities (e.g. adequate sinks with hot and cold water under pressure) that are in working condition and will be used by workers to sufficiently prepare three (3) meals a day. Employer will offer free transportation to town for personal services (i.e. banking, groceries) at least once per week for non range workers.

Transport: The employer will pay the worker for reasonable costs incurred by the worker for transportation and daily subsistence from the place from which the worker has come to work for the employer, whether in the U.S. or abroad to the place of employment (inbound/outbound). The employer will permit workers to select any means of transportation they choose and reimburse workers at no less than the most economical and reasonable common carrier transportation charges for the distances involved.
