Carolina Farms & Harvesting Inc. workers will perform all duties associated with the maintenance, cultivation, and harvesting of peaches. Workers will maintain peach orchards by pruning trees, thinning fruit by hand, training limbs, removing suckers and water sprouts, and performing general tree-care activities necessary to promote healthy growth and proper fruit production. Workers will assist with orchard row maintenance, including removing debris, managing vegetation, and maintaining clean and safe work areas.

Harvesting will be performed by hand. Workers will use picking bags to collect peaches and transport them to tractors or fruit wagons, where fruit is gently dumped into field bins for delivery to the packing house. Picking bags and harvesting equipment will be sanitized at the end of each workday. Workers may sort fruit in the field, load and unload bins, and assist with field packing as directed.

Tools provided include pruning shears, loppers, hand saws, hand snips, ladders, gloves, safety glasses, picking bags, and other equipment necessary to perform assigned duties. Thinning is performed by hand and requires no tools, although workers may use plastic bats to knock off excess fruit when instructed. Workers may use additional orchard tools as needed for tree training, row maintenance, and general farm labor. Tools provided for pruning must be returned to the employer at the end of the task. The cost of tools destroyed maliciously or lost carelessly will be charged to the worker.

Workers may operate non-CDL equipment such as tractors, forklifts, ATVs/UTVs, trucks, buses, sprayers, and recording devices for documenting orchard activities and harvest quantities, provided they are properly trained, authorized, and have completed the company's driving certification process when required. Workers may also perform general farm labor related to peach production, including cleaning and sanitizing equipment, maintaining orchard fencing and roads, loading and unloading supplies, assisting with equipment repair and maintenance, and participating in safety meetings and required training.

Peaches

Pruning Peach Trees: While pruning trees, workers will receive the proper tools for the particular job, including saws, pruners, and hand snips. The supervisor will set a standard or pattern for each orchard and demonstrate and communicate the requirements to workers. Workers will be assigned rows of trees and must prune each tree according to the predetermined standard. In some instances, pruning will be performed from a six-foot ladder weighing up to 30 pounds. Workers must be able to lift and carry the ladder and work from the top of it. Workers must remove all resulting material from the fruit trees after pruning. When pruning is complete on each tree, each worker is required to rake and scatter the resulting brush in the center of the tractor/equipment middles. As each row is pruned, workers will receive credit for the number of trees pruned. This number is transferred manually or electronically for production records. Workers will be required to pick up and return pruning ladders to the ladder wagon provided by the grower at the end of each workday or as directed by the grower or designated supervisor.

If for any reason the kitchen facilities become unavailable due to fire or calamity, the employer will provide 3 meals per day for which a deduction shall be made until the kitchen facilities become operable.
