The job
Job duties include but are not limited to:
Feeding, watering, herding, castrating, branding, weighing, catching, and loading animals.
Examining animals to detect diseases and injuries.
Assisting in birthing, administering medications, vaccinations, or insecticides.
Maintaining winter animal housing areas; using diggers, shovels, and other equipment needed.
Ongoing maintenance includes cleaning, maintaining, and repair of equipment, various workshop tasks as well as maintenance of gran bins and general buildings.
Use of various farm and cattle-specific farming equipment.
Drive farm trucks, tractors, and other farming equipment to distribute food to cattle.
Maintaining of records, as required by the various relevant entities, clients, and in-house management.
Maintaining personnel files, tracking hours for payroll (H-2A workers and permanent workers)
Monitoring feed and supply inventories
Recording livestock health and treatment events and supporting data entry into livestock management systems.
Assist weighing cattle,
Make tags for livestock
Assisting with the general upkeep of offices, scale rooms, and common areas
Housing: Employer-provided (including mobile or range)
Meals: Housing provided to the employees have fully equipped kitchens where they can prepare and cook their own meals three times a day. The kitchens are fully functional and equipped with appliances such as stove, refrigerator, microwave, dishwasher - all in working condition. The kitchens are equipped with necessary utensils for preparing and cooking food. Adequate sinks with warm and cold water under pressure. The employer will ensure that workers have access to a grocery store at least once a week to purchase their food/produce. Workers have access to vehicles to drive themselves to the grocery stores from the house to the stores and back.
Transport: The Employer will, as per H2A regulations, reimburse the worker for travel cost, including daily subsistence rates stipulated at the time, from the worker’s place of residence to the workplace, and upon contract completion, from the workplace back to the worker’s place of residence at no less than the most economical and reasonable common carrier transportation charge for the distance involved, for example return bus and or airfare.
