The job

Grain hauling position related to transporting grain from farm to the elevator. Duties as a driver in this position are to load grain into a truck and drive the load to a grain elevator or storage bin and unload crop. Physical labor and heavy lifting are major aspects of this position, and you also need to know how to operate farm and agriculture equipment. Responsibilities include inspecting truck and grain hauler, and transferring grain crops efficiently using conveyors and augers. This position will include hauling all crops, delivering to market. In down times work will include maintaining and repair equipment, machinery, buildings and other farm facilities. Snow removal around farm facilities as necessary.

• Montana Farm Equipment Operators:

Covering actual farm-to-market operations, not commercial grain haulers. Drivers must be 21 years old, and vehicle must have farm plates. Farm workers are not required to have a CDL to operate vehicles:

o Controlled and operated by a farmer, a member of his family, or an employee.

o Used to transport farm products, equipment or supplies to or from a farm.

o Used within 150 air miles of the farm.

o Used in a nursery or agricultural operations.

o Not used in the operations of a contract motor carrier.

To work as an Ag Equipment Operator requires physical coordination, decision-making ability, mechanical aptitude and safe driving skills. The ability to listen to and follow verbal and texted directions is imperative. Attention to detail and ability to keep records is required. Most duties are performed outdoors in all types of weather (extreme cold, wind, dust, rain and snow). Worker must crouch, bend, lift and carry items weighing up to 100 pounds. Worker is required to have a current driver’s license and be able to speak English.

All employees have a paid sick leave plan that accrues 4 hours per two week pay-period. Bonus payments are based on following safety and communication rules, no tools lost or not put back, no equipment damage and completion of the full season. Bonus payments will not be used to meet the required wage. Details will be provided during orientation.

Housing: Employer-provided (including mobile or range)

Meals: Kitchen facilities, utilities and utensils will be provided by the employer at no cost to the worker. Worker will prepare their own meals. Upon request, employer will provide transportation to stores at least every two weeks for shopping for food and other necessary items at no cost to the worker.

Transport: INBOUND 1) Advance the worker the required transportation and subsistence costs to workers in corresponding employment who are traveling to the employer's work site. The amount of daily subsistence payment will be no less than those set forth in Sec 655.173(a). 2) Pay directly for the inbound transportation, typically, airplane transportation, and reimburse any subsistence costs.

The expected work schedule may be required in a split shift due to the nature of the job duties. Hours may vary due to weather, time of year and the requirements of the job. Work may be offered more than the specified hours per day, but only required to work the hours specified. Work may be offered 7 days a week but only required 6 days a week.
