The job

FARMWORKER: Primary tasks include attending to live ranch animals, including but not limited to cattle, sheep and horses. Performs tasks related to breeding mature animals, handling and protecting pregnant livestock, assisting with birth of livestock, weaning young livestock, and working young livestock after weaning. Duties include feeding, watering, herding, grazing, castrating, branding, tagging, sheering, washing, weighing, catching, loading, examining for detection of disease and injuries, assisting in birth deliveries, administering medications and vaccinations, cleaning and maintaining housing areas, and repairing fences, cattle guards, gates, and other structures or facilities used for housing, loading, or penning livestock. Assist with weed control on grazing areas (including noxious, invasive and poisonous plant species). Monitor grazing areas for poisonous and/or noxious plants and take action to prevent livestock from consuming any identified. Move pregnant livestock at a sufficient pace to ensure they receive ample water / forage during daylight hours before bedding down at night. May be required to drive feed trucks, tractors, ATVs, and skid steers. Occasionally perform tasks under supervision in agricultural crop production, including the production and harvesting of cotton, wheat, triticale and other crops. Tasks include all aspects of cultivating, planting, irrigation, chemical application, and harvesting cotton, wheat and triticale. If worker is eligible to drive under Texas law, Employer may require worker to drive in Employer-provided vehicle to and from the worksite and to other locations.

Housing: Employer-provided (including mobile or range)

Meals: Employer-provided housing includes free and convenient kitchen facilities with appropriate equipment, appliances, cooking accessories, and dishwashing facilities for meal preparation. Worker purchases food and prepares meals. Employer offers no cost transportation to worker at least once a week to stores for food and other items.

Transport: INBOUND TRANSPORTATION

Employer will arrange inbound transportation via commercial public bus seats, charter of 46-50 seat bus, 4-20 seat passenger van, or commercial airplane as needed. Worker may select means of transportation to place of employment, however, reimbursement is limited to lesser of per worker cost of Employer provided transportation or most economical and reasonable common carrier transportation cost.

Experience wanted: 2 months

Experience Requirement: 2 months verifiable experience in commercial livestock ranch operation required. Must have proficiency in John Deere AMS and a valid drivers license. Applicants must furnish job references from employers of the last 5 years establishing acceptable prior experience.

Job requires worker to complete tasks in attending to live ranch animals, including but not limited to cattle, sheep and horses. Occasionally performs tasks related to row crop production of cotton, wheat, triticale and other crops. Employer will provide instructions and training on specific job duties.

Drug testing done at employer's expense and not utilized as preemployment tool.

Season Commitment: Job offered requires worker be available for work for entire employment period.
