The job
Job duties include operating and maintaining a variety of farm equipment such as tractors, skid steers, loaders, and feeding machinery to support daily livestock and facility operations. Feeding tasks involve mixing and distributing rations based on animal's nutritional requirements, lifting and handling heavy bags of minerals and supplements, and moving hay bales manually or with equipment. Livestock must have clean, consistent access to feed and water, and rations should be adjusted as needed based on health or seasonal conditions. Livestock health must be monitored daily, with signs of illness or injury identified and addressed promptly. Medications and supplements are administered as needed, and support is provided during veterinary visits by gathering and restraining livestock, preparing treatment areas, and recording health information. Duties also include herding livestock as needed; cleaning and maintaining barns, pens, and handling areas; managing bedding and manure; ensuring a clean, safe environment for livestock; and assisting with breeding and rearing of young animals. Tasks are physically demanding and require regularly lifting and carrying heavy items such as hay bales, mineral bags, and newborn calves; building, maintaining, and repairing fences, farm buildings, and structure. There are few typical days and workers may be required to change duties and/or locations often and engage in various general functions. Daily duties may vary. The employer reserves the right to increase workers' pay or provide bonuses based on tenure, performance, or other factors that are solely based on the discretion of the employer.
Housing: Employer-provided (including mobile or range)
Meals: The employer will provide, without charge or deposit, free and convenient kitchen and cooking facilities to prepare meals. The workers will be allowed time to drive themselves or will be transported to a store or market to purchase their own food and cooking supplies. Employer provided housing contains a refrigerator, stove, oven, and operational sink with hot and cold water under pressure. In the event that the workers are unable to prepare meals at the housing location, the employer will provide three sufficient meals a day free of charge.
Transport: After worker has completed 50% of the work contract period, employer will reimburse worker for the cost of transportation and subsistence from the place of recruitment to the place of employment. Employee transportation will be arranged to and from their country of origin by either plane, train, bus, taxi service or own vehicle; whichever is most economical. The employer will properly reimburse employees for such travel as defined in 20 CFR 655.122(h). Continued in Addendum C.
Experience wanted: 2 months
Must have 2 months experience and basic English literacy skills. Must have or be able to obtain drivers license within 30 days after hire. Drug screening may be done post hire at the employer's expense to ensure safety on and around the worksite and to the public when operating equipment on public roads. Random drug testing may occur post-hire at the employers expense. These checks may be performed to ensure safe housing and work environments for all workers. Positive drug test results or refusal to comply with testing may result in termination of employment.
