The job

Workers will be performing work related to SOC 53-7064 Packer/Packager duties include: maintaining and operating grain storage facilities and equipment, as well as driving semi. Operate and monitor grain conditioning tools to ensure efficient and safe conditioning of grain to meet quality standards; Load and unload using handtrucks, forklifts, suction gates, shovels, brooms; Weigh crop-filled containers, and record weights and other identifying information; Place products in containers according to grade; Weigh products or estimate their weight, visually or by feel; Discard inferior or defective products or foreign matter, and place acceptable products in containers for further processing; Guide products to regulate flow and to discard diseased or rotten products; Monitor and report grain moisture and grades; Maintain a clean and organized work environment, including storage areas and surrounding facilities; Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment for yourself and the team; Load semi with hopper and belt trailers; deliver grain and feed to livestock and to market using semi. Operate fans, dryers and other equipment to condition grain and control moisture levels. Worker will also work to help produce cattle. Duties performed will include: Feed and water livestock and monitor food and water supplies. Herd livestock to pastures for grazing or to scales, trucks, or other enclosures. Examine animals to detect illness, injury, or disease, and to check physical characteristics, such as rate of weight gain. Provide medical treatment, such as administering medications and vaccinations, or arrange for veterinarians to provide more extensive treatment. Mark livestock to identify ownership and grade, using brands, tags, paint, or tattoos. Drive trucks, tractors, and other equipment to distribute feed to animals. Segregate animals according to weight, age, color, and physical condition. Worker will also assist with Repair and maintain equipment used for livestock production including pens, enclosures, chutes, bunks, troughs, stall, corrals, etc. Clean stalls, pens, and equipment, using disinfectant solutions, brushes, shovels, water hoses, or pumps and power-washers. Move equipment, poultry, or livestock from one location to another, manually or using trucks or carts. Perform duties related to livestock reproduction, such as breeding animals within appropriate timeframes, performing artificial inseminations, and helping with animal births. Spray livestock with disinfectants and insecticides, or dip or bathe animals. Assist with snow removal and debris. Break ice during times of freezing weather to ensure livestock have access to fresh water. Must be able to speak and understand English.

Housing: Employer-provided (including mobile or range)

Meals: Employer will furnish free and convenient cooking and kitchen facilities, all of which are in working order, including refrigeration, space for food preparation, cooking accessories and utensils, appliances, and dishwashing facilities so that workers may prepare their own meals. Kitchen facilities include adequate sinks with hot and cold water under pressure. Employer will provide transportation once a week to assure workers access to stores where they can purchase groceries, when the employer is providing cooking and kitchen facilities.

Experience wanted: 2 months

Two (2) months of recent and verifiable experience required for the job duties listed. Must be able to obtain appropriate drivers license following hire and obtain clean driving record. Be able to lift up to 50 lbs. Once hired, worker may be required to take a random drug test at no cost to the worker. Testing positive or failure to comply may result in immediate termination from employment.
