The job
Employees will operate tractors and other agricultural equipment with towed feeder wagons and implements used for feeding and bedding cattle; grind, mix, order, and distribute feed; mix feed additives and medications in prescribed portions; feed and water livestock; and monitor feed and water supplies. Workers will assist with calving the herd and care for newborn calves; inspect cattle and pens for water availability, cleanliness, bedding, and animal health conditions; examine animals for signs of illness, injury, disease, abnormal behavior, or abnormal weight gain; administer vaccinations and medications as directed; assist with veterinary care; and brand and tag cattle. Workers will move livestock, feed, supplies, and equipment between locations manually or using tractors, trucks, and other farm vehicles. Employees will perform routine repairs and preventative maintenance on farm machinery, equipment, grounds, fences, and agricultural structures, including basic steel welding and fabrication as needed. Employer may provide pay increases for performance, longevity and/or experience at employer’s discretion, Employer may provide performance bonuses at the end of the contract at the employer’s discretion.
Housing: Employer-provided (including mobile or range)
Meals: The employer will furnish free and convenient cooking and kitchen facilities and space for food preparation, as well as the necessary equipment, appliances (including refrigeration),cooking accessories, and dish washing facilities (e.g., adequate sinks with hot and cold water under pressure) that are in working condition and will be used by workers to sufficiently prepare three (3) meals a day. Employer will offer free transportation to town for personal services (i.e. banking, groceries) at least once per week for non range workers.
Transport: The employer will pay the worker for reasonable costs incurred by the worker for transportation and daily subsistence from the place from which the worker has come to work for the employer, whether in the U.S. or abroad to the place of employment (inbound/outbound). The employer will permit workers to select any means of transportation they choose and reimburse workers at no less than the most economical and reasonable common carrier transportation charges for the distances involved.
Experience wanted: 3 months
Workers must have a minimum of three (3) months of previous verifiable experience performing the job duties described in this job order, including cattle care and operating tractors equipped with computerized monitors, and must be knowledgeable in the proper care, handling, and feeding of livestock. Workers must be able to speak, read, write, and understand English sufficiently to follow safety instructions, safely operate equipment, communicate regarding livestock care, and complete required records. The job requires exposure to extreme outdoor temperatures, extensive sitting and walking, and repetitive movements. Workers must possess a valid regular driver's license. Personal cell phone use is limited to authorized business-related communications during working hours, and texting while operating equipment or performing work duties is prohibited. Smoking and consumption of alcoholic beverages are prohibited during working hours.
